A college student stabbed himself to death using a kitchen knife due to frequent fights between his parents at Kundrathur in India on Thursday morning, police confirmed.
The victim, identified as Balakrishnan, was a Bachelor of Commerce student at a private college in Kovur. His father, Prabhakaran, a construction laborer, reportedly did not go to work and quarreled with his wife that day.
Balakrishnan tried to stop and calm the couple whenever they would fight, but all of his efforts were futile, The Times of India reported.
According to the police, whenever the couple fought, their neighbors had to intervene to stop them, which Balakrishnan did not like. Despite his consistent warning, the couple kept on fighting.
During a fight on Thursday morning, when Balakrishnan was getting ready for school, his father started shouting and suddenly picked up the kitchen knife and threatened to end his life.
Balakrishnan, who was upset over his threats, grabbed the knife from him and stabbed himself in the chest several times.
Prabhakaran rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

After the girl’s father’s parent-teacher meeting in her school, he went home and got ready to go to the market to buy clothes for his two other children, leaving the girl out as he had only recently bought her clothes.
The girl insisted to go along, but the father disagreed. He asked her to stay home and went with his wife and the other two children instead. The girl got so upset that she hanged herself, according to police.
